I'm using a moderately simple OBS set up on my M1 Mac mini 16Gb. I've got about 8 scenes, some with logos and graphics that can overlay over the 4 different camera inputs I'm switching between. The only issue I am having is that the USB audio input device keeps losing signal - and I have to re-set the input for the sound to return. Testing conducted by Apple in October 2020 using preproduction Mac mini systems with Apple M1 chip, and production 3.6GHz quad‑core Intel Core i3‑based Mac mini systems with Intel UHD Graphics 630, all configured with 16GB of RAM and 2TB SSD. Tested with prerelease Affinity Photo 1.9.0.199 using the built‑in benchmark version 1900. Turn off your Mac mini. From the Apple menu ( ), choose Shut Down. Mac Mini (Late 2012): 2.3GHz, Quad-core i7, 16 GB. USB Externals: Primarily a couple 2.0 WDs, a 3.0 WD, and I will be getting a 3.0 SSD soon. **Also, if anyone can recommend a USB 3.0 Hub that would work well with a 2012 Mac Mini, there seems to be a lot of controversy when it comes to 3.0 Hubs and 2012 Mac's.

Aptly named, the Apple Mac mini is an ultracompact computer featuring the same easy-to-use Mac operating system as its larger iMac and Mac Pro counterparts. If you're unfamiliar with Mac computers but considering a switch from a Windows PC, choosing a new Mac mini is an affordable option. Testing conducted by Apple in October 2020 using pre‑production Mac mini systems with Apple M1 chip, and production 3.6GHz quad‑core Intel Core i3–based Mac mini systems with Intel UHD Graphics 630, all configured with 16GB of RAM and 2TB SSD. Tested with pre-release Affinity Photo 1.9.0.199 using the built‑in benchmark version 1900. I had 32 Gb on my previous Mac mini i3 Intel box, and 'upgraded' to the M1 Mac mini with 16 Gb. If for no other reason than as so many have suggested, I'd get 16 Gb so you have some elbow room. My new M1 Mac mini performs several functions much slower than my i3, which I write off to less memory and not yet optimized software. The 2012 Mac Mini held a special place in many hearts thanks to how easy it was to upgrade. It remains Apple's last properly upgradeable Mac Mini, and even in 2020 can be a pretty handy little computer with the right bits inside.
